Dear Parents,
Your child has shown an interest in joining the POV 4th/5th grade Chorus!
Each week, chorus will meet one day for 45 minutes during your child’s PE block. Please note that your child will not be participating in PE on that day. 4th grade will meet on Tuesdays during PE and 5th grade will meet on Thursdays during PE.
The chorus objectives are as follows:
· Learning the proper techniques of singing
· Working together as a group to accomplish a common musical goal
· Expanding on musicality and technique learned in weekly general music class
· Building performance behavior
Any student chosen to participate in Chorus must meet the following expectations:
- Attend weekly rehearsals
- Maintain at minimum a grade of “S” in both content and behavior in the general music classroom
- Must not let Chorus participation contribute to falling behind in classroom
Attendance at POV’s Winter and Spring musical programs is required for all chorus members.
- Winter Concert: Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 7:00 PM
- Spring Concert: Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 7:00 PM
Please mark these date on your calendars before allowing your student to participate in Chorus. Reminders will be sent home several weeks before this and any other possible performances.
There will also be 2 after school rehearsals before each program. The winter rehearsals will be held on the following dates from 3:00- 4:30PM:
Monday, November 21 Monday, November 28
Being in Chorus is a privilege, and must be earned. Any student whose grade drops below “S” in general music, who chooses not to attend rehearsals, or whose behavior (in or out of the music classroom) is unacceptable will be asked to leave the group.
